My Apple Discovery: The Story of Isaac Newton 🍎

👶 My Curious Childhood

Hello there! I’m Isaac Newton, and today, I’m going to tell you the story of how I discovered a force that holds the entire universe together—gravity!

I was born in England in 1643, in a tiny village called Woolsthorpe. I was a small, quiet baby. Some people even thought I wouldn’t survive because I was born early and was so tiny! But I was a fighter from the start.

As a child, I was very curious. I liked to ask questions more than I liked to play outside. While other kids were climbing trees, I would lie under them and wonder, “Why don’t apples fly up instead of falling down?” I wasn’t very good at farming, which is what my family wanted me to do, but I loved building things—like tiny windmills—and writing down ideas in my notebooks.

Have you ever asked “Why?” about everything you see? I did that every single day!

📚 My Dreamy Teenage Years

By the time I was a teenager, I went to a school where I could finally learn the stuff I loved—math, science, and reading. I was shy and didn’t have many friends, but books became my best friends. I read about stars, music, and even how time works!

One of my dreams was to go to Cambridge University. It was where really smart people went, and I wanted to discover big ideas too.

But life wasn’t easy. My family didn’t have much money, and there were times I almost had to quit school to work as a farmer. Still, I kept going. I even took jobs like cleaning and serving food at the college just so I could afford to stay.

Have you ever worked really hard for something you wanted? That’s what I did!

🧠 The Apple That Changed Everything

When I was in my twenties, something amazing happened while I was back home during a break from school.

I was sitting in my garden one day when—BOINK!—an apple fell from a tree and hit the ground right next to me.

Most people would have just picked it up or eaten it. But I asked myself… “Why did the apple fall down instead of sideways or up?”

That simple question led me to think more and more. I started writing out ideas and testing things. Eventually, I came up with a big idea: the force that pulls apples to the ground is the same force that keeps the moon circling the Earth and the planets circling the Sun. I called it gravity.

Pretty cool, right?

I didn’t stop there. I also came up with three super important rules about how objects move, called the laws of motion. These rules help explain how everything works—from bicycles to rockets!

🚀 Changing the Way the World Thinks

When I got older, I wrote a big book called Principia Mathematica (I know, it’s a hard name to say!). In that book, I shared my laws of motion and gravity. It changed science forever.

People around the world started using my ideas to build machines, study space, and understand physics. Even today, hundreds of years later, scientists still use my laws to launch satellites into space!

After a while, I became a respected professor and even worked at the Royal Mint, where I helped make coins. I was also knighted by the Queen and became Sir Isaac Newton!

But the most exciting part? I never stopped asking questions. I believed that the smallest question—like why an apple falls—could lead to the biggest answers.

Do you have a curious mind too? What questions do you wonder about?

🌟 My Legacy and Why It Matters

I didn’t become famous by trying to be famous. I just followed my curiosity. I worked hard, asked big questions, and never gave up.

Here are some of the amazing things I’m known for:

  • Discovering gravity, a force that affects everything in the universe
  • Creating the 3 laws of motion used in all kinds of science and engineering
  • Inventing some of the rules used in math today, including calculus
  • Changing how the whole world thinks about science

That’s why people call me one of the greatest scientists of all time.

Like other thinkers from Inspiring Innovators, I believed that imagination and hard work could change the world.

💬 Final Thoughts

I may be remembered as a great scientist, but I started out as a small, curious boy asking big questions about the world.

What big questions do you have? Could your ideas change the world, too?

Never stop wondering, never stop learning… and who knows? Maybe one day, a falling apple will inspire you to discover something amazing, too. 🍎
